|
The fonds consists of negatives created by Dawson City photographers Adams & Larkin and George Cantwell.
The images primarily depict placer gold miners working their claims in the Klondike Gold Fields surrounding Dawson City, Yukon. Various mining activities, machinery, equipment, and tools are depicted. Specific locations include Bear Creek, Bonanza Creek, Caribou Village, Eldorado Creek, Gold Run Creek, Henry Gulch, Hunker Creek, Last Chance Creek, Lindow Creek, and Mint Gulch.
There are also interior and exterior views of businesses that operated in the Dawson City area as well as images of roadhouses, cabins, houses, residents, and leisure activities in the Klondike region. Businesses and organizations include the Alaska Exploration Company Department Store, Arctic Brotherhood Hall, Home Hotel, Cascade Steam Laundry, Sixty Mile Lime Company, Dawson Flume Hose Factory, Yukon Order of Pioneers (YOOP), and the Dawson Post Office. There are also some portraits.
