Tony Penikett was Government Leader (NDP) in Yukon from 1985 to 1989. He was the executive assisstant to the federal NDP leader from 1975 to 1977. He was a Whitehorse Alderman from 1977 to 1979. He was elected national president of the NDP in 1981 and reelected in 1983. He became an MLA in 1978 and became leader of of the Yukon NDP in 1981. He was reelcted in 1985 and again in 1989, In the autumn of 1995, Tony Penikett resigned his seat as MLA and moved to Saskatchewan to serve as a policy analyst in Roy Romanow's NDP Government. Tony Penikett married Lula Mary Johns and has 3 children: John Tahmoh, Sarah Lahil and Stephanie Yahson.
