Scope and Content |

The fonds consists of records created by Mr. and Mrs. Otto Partridge in maintaining Ben-My-Chree for White Pass and Yukon Route (WP&YR) guests, as well as Otto's mining claims. Included are letters from their guests, correspondence with WP&YR and the CNR-Grand Trunk Pacific Coast Steamship Company, and with U.S. seed and landscaping companies, as well as correspondence with government officials regarding tax assessments, land titles and Otto's attempt to sell his tramway, 1911-1930. There are three diaries handwritten by Mrs. Partridge, 1898-1926, in which she describes their daily activities, the arrivals and departures of steamers, and the weather. There are also copy prints of photographs of Ben-My-Chree, Conrad, the Carcross Residential School, the airplane "Queen of the Yukon", and of the Partridges, ca. 1905-1950.

Custodial History |
|
Mrs. Partridge's diaries were donated by Iris Warner who received them from Peg Crook at MacBride Museum. The correspondence in MSS 12 (82/170) was donated by MacBride Museum in 1982. The correspondence in MSS 15 (82/186) was donated by Cora Grant. The photographs and the envelope from the Mill Haven Lumber Company were found by Larry Bratvold in the dump at Gibson's B.C. ca. 1973. He sent them to Yukon Archives in 1980. The provenance of this material is uncertain, but was attributed to the Partridges because of the subject matter.
